Show Lynndyl . . . Mrs. Rachel Simpson A large crowd of town people enjoyed the 24th celebration at Leamington. The parade and program pro-gram were very good and the dance was cool and delightful, we appreciate their invitation. Mr. and Mrs. Ford Coleman have spent the past two weeks visiting here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. .W. M. Coleman and Mr. and Mrs. John Talbot. Bill Coleman is back to work now, after having been laid up most of the summer with a broken leg. Mr. John Nelson is down visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nelson. He was a resident of our community for many years, and is now making mak-ing his home in Pleasant Grove. He tells us that his daughter, Mary Beth Nelson was married recently. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nielson spent the 24th in Salt Lake City. Mr. Byron Nielson, recently returned re-turned from Germany, was our speaker in Sunday evening meeting. meet-ing. He gave a very interesting account of the conditions in and around Germany. He was accompanied accom-panied by his wife, and his mother, Mrs. Peter Nielson. of Oak City. Mrs. Earl Greathouse and children, child-ren, were Eureka visitors for the 24th. Mr. and Mrs. DeLong Banks went to Provo, to attend a Carsen family fami-ly reunion. Mrs. Jerome Ivie and Harold, went to Salt Lake, Friday, to take Bart, and also to visit Mrs. Larean Talbot and family, of Willard. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Magil spent a few days in Provo last week, looking far a place to live. Mr. Magil was relieved by Bill Jef-fers Jef-fers and will go there for employment. employ-ment. . Effie Allen and Ruby, were Ogden Og-den visitors over the week end of the 24th. Mrs. Clea Dutson entertained the sewing club at her home Thursday evening. Those who enjoyed the evening were, Merdith Searle, Veda Robison, Betty Nielson, Billy Nielson, Niel-son, Norine Shipley and Lucile Ov-erson. Ov-erson. Mrs. Rhea Whatcott and Garth, drove to Kanosh Sunday to be with Mrs. Newel Hawlett on her birthday, birth-day, returning Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Greathouse and family, spent the 24th in Salt Lake City with Mrs. Greathouse's mother, Mrs. Farnsworth. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Roundy returned re-turned Sunday from a three weeks visit in Escalante, Floyds' father returned with them. Mr. and Mrs. Farrel Terry drove down from Salt Lake City, where Ferrel is employed, and spent the week end with Marilyn Joyce and Forest. Mr. and Mrs. Royal Terry sends us word they are having a wonderful time, that fishing is excellent. ex-cellent. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ivie are happy hap-py to have their son home. He has been in the navy and returned from Japan, bringin many souven-nirs souven-nirs and interesting articles with him. Mr. and Mrs-. Ralph Ashby have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nielson, before Ralph leaves for Tokyo. The fire in the mountains, Sunday, Sun-day, could be seen very clearly. A number of boys went up there but were not able to do much. We are thankful that it didn't spread any farther, and do more damage. Mr. and Mrs. Max Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson, called on the Lile Johnson's, Monday evening. ev-ening. Miss Beverly Larsen spent a few days last week in Provo. Miss "Clorean Johnson returned from Idaho Falls, where she has been visiting the past two weeks. She visited Miss Lou Etta Sampson Samp-son and Miss Cheryl Bishop in Salt Lake, also. Miss Gladys Banks arrived home Tuesday, after a two months visit with her brother Fred Banks and wife, Ottumwa, Iowa. She says the thing she missed most of all was our beautiful mountains. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Roper, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nielson and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Woodbury enjoyed the dance at Oak City Friday night. A display of the Northern Lights last Friday evening. A broad, widespread wide-spread activity toward the northeast, north-east, and to the northwest, three large light gray streamers which hid stars, and ran up three-fourths of the way to the north star. This followed much deflection of the magnetic needle, and considerable trouble with radio communication, as reported in the papers, and also the presence of sun spots. |
