Friday the T-Birds will travel to Logan to battle Utah State, and on Saturday they go down to Ogden to meet Weber State. The T-Birds havs lost to both teams in earlier matches. In the opening match of the season in Cedar Citv, SUSC lost to USU, 43-6, and in ihe T-Bird Quad Weber State took care of the 'Birds, 44-2. For the second week in a row Craig Rollo (118) has been named Wrestler of the Week by Coach Joe Lopour. Rollo, one of two finalists in the Biola Tournament was the only champion the T-Birds T-Birds had. He dominated all three opponents including top-seeded top-seeded Mitch Steinhauer of San Jose State. Rollo is the first T-Bird T-Bird to win the award two times. He has the best record of any T-Bird, T-Bird, 8-6, and still leads in over half of the statistical categories. The SUSC Wrestlers had their most productive time of the season Saturday as they finished third out of 12 teams in Division II of the 8th Annual Biola, California Invitational. The T-Birds racked up 74 4 points behind second place Claremont with 79, California State, Bakersfield, ran away with the championship with 119 points. Coach Joe Lopour was presented a wrist watch and the team a trophy for their third place finish, ft was the highest finish ever in a tournament for a Lopour coached team since he took over three years ago. Six of the 10 T-Birds placed in the alwavs tough tournament. Craig Hollo (118) gained top honors for the 'Birds as he dominated each of his opponents on his way to the championship. He started it off with a fall over Rich O'Keefe of Cal Tech in 1:55. Then he decisioned top-seeded Mitch Steinhauer of San Jose State 8-2, and in the finals he ripped Spencer Travers of California State, Bakersfield, 12-0. 12-0. Jeff Winn (150) battled to a second place as he was a pleasant surprise for the T-Birds. Winn won his first two matches with relative ease, decisioning Ken Walker of Cal Tech, 11-4, and Bill Curtis, Bakersfield, 10-5. Then he decisioned top-seeded Mich Tao of Cal State, LA, 1-0. Winn was pinned in the finals by Dan Geist of Biola, a senior wrestling his final match at Biola. Joe Taylor (134) and Dave McKee (142) both placed third alter losing their opening matches. mat-ches. They won three matches in the wrestle backs to get their third place medals. Phil Price (167) and Dan Humphrey (HWT) placed fourth in the action. Each just missed third.
