Show j Parowan Literary . Club holds meeting The Parowan Literary Club met at the home of Mrs. Alice Mitchell on Feb. 6. Mrs. Gertrude S. Mitchell gave an interesting lesson on the subject of Canada. Mrs. Mitchell and her husband, Mr. J. Harold Mitchell spent an enjoyable three weeks vacation visiting their daughter and son-in-law on the beautiful Prince Edward Island as well as Nova Scotia, Halifax and New Brunswick. Prince Edward is the birthplace bir-thplace of Canada. The first meeting was held on Prince Edward Island in the Historic Confederation Chamber in 1864 to make plans to unite all of British North America into one great nation. Three years later. July 1, 1867 the Dominion of Canada was formed into one great nation. The Mitchells showed slides of the beautiful islands and of Expo 67. 'The Worlds Fair' held in Montreal where they spent a week. The evening was topped off by playing a very popular record, "A Canadians Defense of the United States" . Mrs. Alice Mitchell and Mrs. Alice Barton served delicious refreshments.. |
