Show SUS students exceed blood quota the fact that "a waiting period of over two hours was required at times. Circle K should be recognized for their part in providing floor help, and the college administration ad-ministration and executive officers of-ficers for their support. The Red Cross volunteers indicated that they were very favorably impressed im-pressed by the whole effort. Last Wednesday college students at SUSC demonstrated, in convincing fashion, their support for the Red Cross. Under the direction of the LDS Student Association, students were enlisted to donate blood for shipment to the Intermountain Blood Center. The response was so positive that the mobile unit remained two hours longer than originally intended. The college quota of 150 pints was exceeded by some 15 for a total of 165. The director of the mobile unit remarked that "This was far greater . participation than we had hoped for. He further explained ex-plained that the intermountain supply was especially low and that the response of the students would do a great deal to relieve the current shortage. Red Cross officials stated at the conclusion of the drive that the response of students at SUSC always compares favorably to the major colleges of the state, fhey further expressed that this particular drive surpassed significantly the normal college averages. One volunteer stated that a major university, with far superior numbers, averages approximately 140 pints per drive, some 25 below the SUSC effort. The success of the drive was especiallv sipnifirant in view of |
