American Little League winds up season; Kiwanis top club The Cedar American Little League finished up regular league action this week with a makeup game played Monday evening by Milne and Rotary. Milne posted a 15-3 victory in that final game and the win, a makeup game from the first half of play moved the Milne Club into a tie for the first half of play with Kiwanis. Both teams had identical iden-tical records of 6-2 for the first half of play. Going into the final week of action the two clubs were again fighting on an even basis after playing the week before to a 5-5 deadlock in a game that was called on a time limit. But in the final week Milne folded and Kiwanis came on strong. Kiwanis picked up a pair of victories scoring a 24 to 6 win over Spilsbury Graff and wound up the season with a 16-3 verdict over Rotary. For Milne boom came midway in the week when Coleman, who overall finished the league in third place downed the trucking crew by an 8 to 7 margin. But that was not the end. In action Friday night Spilsbury Graff came on to defeat Milne by a score of 7-2. For the Mortuary crew it was their last game of the season and their first win of the season. The young team should come back strong in action next season. As a result of the action Kiwanis finished the second half with a record of six wins no losses and a tie, while Milne slipped to four wins, two losses in the final week of action and a tie. Overall the Kiwanis had a record of 12 wins, two losses and tie for the season. Milne finished out the season with a record of 10 wins, two losses and a tie. In total season records it was Coleman in third place with a record of 8 and 5 followed by Carter Brothers with a 7-7 record, Rotary with a 3 and 8 mark and Spilsbury Graff finishing with a 1 and 11 mark. As the season concluded officers of-ficers of the league expressed their appreciation to all those who assisted during the year. They especially thanked the coaches, the score-keepers and the umpires for their outstanding contributions to the program and the success of the season. |
