Show Pioneer Day parade objective; longest and best in history in numerical order. The parade will move north along Main Street to the city park where games, refreshments, and many enjoyable activities will be available for celebrants. All of the proceeds from the day's activities will go toward development of the Evelyn Webster APMIA Girls Camp. Mrs. Morris said that all floats and entries of this type should be preserved after the parade to be used in the Iron County Fair Parade in Parowan on Sept. 2. Committee members for the Cedar City Pioneer Day Parade are Therol McArthur, Laurene Adams, Karlynn Adams, and Bessie1 Dover. The July 24 Celebration is under the general chairmanship of Gerald Stoker and Evelyn Jones, representing Cedar West Stake. "The goal of this year's Parade Committee for the Cedar City July 24 Celebration is to have the longest and best parade in the history of the Community." This was the statement of Mrs. Richard Morris, parade chairman, chair-man, as she outlined plans for the activity. Mrs. Morris stated that many entries have . already been reported to the committee and she urges all groups and individuals in-dividuals who plan to participate to contact her or one of the committee members to receive a number. "This should be done even through the entry is not completed," she explained. "We are especially anxious to have all of our senior citizens participate in this parade," Mrs. Morris said. "They are the main group to be honored on this oc-' casion." She said that the veterans of World War I will lead the parade and carry the nation's colors. Also participating will be the National Guard Battalion and the giant howitzer from the St. George battery. "We know there are many accomplished horsemen and women in our area who would add a great deal to our parade," Mrs. Morris said. "These people symbolize the pioneer heritage with their beautiful, well trained horses and colorful riding attire." at-tire." Mrs. Morris said that the parade will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. from east 400 South and Main Streets. Entries are asked to be at the Cedar Stake House parking area and adjacent streets by 9 a.m. Participants will lineup in order of arrival, not |
