Show Bradshaws lead way in big league Bradshaw Chevrolet picked up two more victories this week in their bed for the championship of the Cedar City Big League. In Tuesday's action, Russ Mortensen Mor-tensen picked up the victory for Town & Country as they defeated Cedar Products 9-2. A good all around performance by all players saw Town and Country build up an 8 run lead and then coast in for the victory. The KSUB game of the week featured Cedar Products and Morton Metal. Products got back in the win column by defeating Metal 6-2. Both teams picked up two runs early in the game and then were deadlocked for 4 innings. in-nings. In the 5th, Products brought in 4 runs on as many hits to sew up the victory. In picking up their 6th win, Bradshaw had to pull out all stops to turn back an determined Town and Country 6-0. Bradshaw picked up one run in the first inning and then clung tenaciously to that precarious lead for five innings. Excellent pitching by Cornell Christensen and Brad (Bohemia) Lambeth kept base runners out of scoring position. The throwing arms of Steve Jenson and Dennis Alger throttled would-be scores for Bradshaw. Finally in the sixth, Bradshaw banged out five big runs, mainly on sharp singles that found the holes. Lambeth, who had never pitched a game, turned in a stellar performance in a fine shut out victory. He allowed only three Town and Country runners. Two of those were walks and one came on a passed ball on a third strike. Town and Country batters just couldn't quite get the hang of Lambeth's off speed pitch and his drop ball. |
