Show Commission delays action on requests for financing A series of requests put before the Iron County Commission at their regular meeting Wednesday, Wed-nesday, July 10, were tabled for further action and study. - Among the items tabled were: --A request made by Keith Cripps, president of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, recommending that the salary of Lee Fife, who serves as County Industrial Development Director and Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, be increased by the sum of $100 per month by both the Commission and the Chamber. The Commission authorized that the 1975 units be purchased proved there was no markup in price except for the base model price increase. John Rowley, architect in charge of construction of the new courthouse gave a progress report and reported that the construction of an Emergency Operation Center had been redesigned to bring it in line with original estimates. He was given authorization to call for bids for the installation of the EOC provided that federal funds were still available. Bids will be opened July 31. The Commission denied a request for participation in the sharing of costs for the purchase of an ambulance or ambulances to meet federal standards, but leased to a private organization. Estimated cost of the ambulances am-bulances was set at $12,000. The request was made by Melvin Whitehead and Dan Ronnow of Cedar City. -A request made by Richard T. Harris, Parowan City Councilman Coun-cilman and Wm. G. Daileda, manager of the Parowan City Airport, requesting financial support to meet committments in planned expansion and improvements. im-provements. The Commission was advised that the projects was approximately $6000 short of total funding needs. The request was that the county participate to whatever portion of the amount they felt they could. --Delayed action on construction con-struction of a building at Brian Head Resort near the Edelweiss Condominum by Evan Dobson of Cedar City. Permission for construction of the building was granted by Iron County Assessor H. Dee White but several protests had been lodged. Action and recommendations on the matter were postponed pending recommendations of the County Planning Commission, scheduled to meet that same evening. The Commission, did however, authorize the expenditure of up to $700 for promotional help for the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Request for the funds was made by Lee Fife and it was proposed that the funds be taken from the room tax budget. The Commission in other action ac-tion granted permission for Lynn Fiack, County Road Supervisor to negotiate the supplying of two new trucks for his department based on 1975 models rather than the 1974 models for which bids were received. Fiack indicated that Lunt Motor Co., the successful bidder, could not supply the 1974 models. |
