Show Victory over Delta leaves Red men undefeated in region Cedar High School Kedmen started off slow Thursday night, but whipped into gear in the second period to demolish the Delta Kabbits and wrap up the regular league season undefeated. un-defeated. Final score of the contest was Z)-M, but the score was no indication in-dication of the one-sidedness of the game. Midway during the third period of play the Kedmen crew led by as much as 27 points and the Kabbits were never in contention. A highlight of the contest came one minute and 19 seconds into the second quarter of play. At that point Coby Leavitt connected on a pair of fouls to give him eight points for the game. More importantly, however, the two points gave him 12IH) total points scored in his high school career. It is the most points ever scored by a Cedar High School player. r At that point the game was stopped and a certificate awarded to Leavitt for reaching that milestone. Ironically his two foul points knotted the game at 12-all and from that point on the Kedmen took the lead and never relinquished it. The Kabbits, with a fine defensive effort took the lead over the Redmen in the first quarter of play and held a 12-8 advantage at the end of the period. Leavitt foul pitches tied the score, Steve Hair and Scott Burns connected to move the Kedmen out by four. Delta came back to tie it at 16, but before the half the Kedmen had ran to a 11 point advantage at 33-24 at halftime. In the third period the Redmen ran their advantage to 27 points leading by 57 to 30 just prior to the break. Steve Hair was the leading scorer for the Redmen with 17, but four of the squad were in double figures and all but two of the 12 man squad was in the scoring column. Other double figure scorers were Mike Hair with Hi, Leavitt with 12 and Scott Burns with 10. Top scorer of the evening was Paul Skeem of the Rabbits with 27. Also in double figures was Dean Fowles with 14. Ironically the major Rabbit scoring came in the fourth period with a 32 point output. In that period Skeem connected for 14 points and Fowles had 10 |
