Show Federation issues appeal to owners of pets Following a meeting of the Cedar City Wildlife Federation held this past Thursday evening, the organization has issued a plea to the public concerning the elimination of dogs and cats. The appeal was prepared by'; the Federation as follows: The next time you want to get rid of a cat or dog, don't take him for a ride into the fields or the hills on the pretense that you are doing the animal a favor by not giving it a new home or getting rid of it. Tame animals have a hard time living in the wilds as they are not used to providing for themselves and will probably end up turning to livestock (in the case of a dog) or wildlife (in the case of a cat) and eventually starve to death or be shot by an irate livestoekman. In either case someone or something suffers. The livestoekman loses stock, the sportsman loses game birds, and the animal generally loses it's life. it you want to gee na ot a pet, we now have in Cedar City, an animal shelter designed for just such a purpose. This is much better than letting your pet starve to death. |
