Fork 7 1 Dixie 5 3 Cedar City 4 4 Spanish Fork 3 5 Springville 3 5 Timpview 3 5 Pleasant Grove :! 5 Pay son 0 8 Provo took over undisputed un-disputed first place in Region Six with a 66-61 victory over previously undefeated American Fork. The battle of the giant decided who reigns at the top, but beyond that point it is a real dog fight as Region Six moves into the second half of play. ' Hut to begin the second half of play the Cedar High School Kedmen will tangle with arch rival Dixie High School in St. George. The game is slated Friday evening at 7:1(0 p.m. and should Ik- one of the top contest on th" docket this week. The two clubs met early in the season, Dec. 2, at Cedar High School and the Kedmen picked up an overtime victory 64-69. Since that time the Flyers have had the In-lter of the record picking up a pair of important victories -- one over Timpview and the other over Springville-on the road. The Flyers aie currently third in the Region with the Redmen close behind in fourth spot. It should be a close game and one that will tx won by the team making the fewer mistakes. Currently Kerry Cox of the Kedmen is the fourth leading scorer in the Region averaging 15. II points per game, but close behind are Tim Fullmer of the Flyers with a 1-1.1 average and McArthur averaging lU.tt. The Kedmen picked up an important 59 51 victory over Spnngviile at home Friday night. At the same game Dixie was scoring a (i7 57 win over Spanish Fork, also on their home court. The Fivers got good balanced scoring in that outing with five in double figures. Fullmer was tops with 17, followed by McArthur with 11, O'Ncil with 11 and Knee and Find-sey Find-sey both with 10. He hit 17 fieldgoals and 7 of 14 from the foul line. Heck of the Cavemen hit for 27 and Burgess for 14, but it was not enough as the Bulldogs led from start to finish. In another important game in the Region Pleasant (J rove appears to be growing stronger as they picked up a (i!! 5li victory over Timpview. The win by Pleasant (J rove moved them into a four way tie for fifth place in the Region standings with Spanish Folk, Springville and Timpview. l'ayson, winlcss in Region action, drew the bye in Friday's round of play. -- 1 |
