Show Monday, the Utah House of Representatives passed, by a substantial sub-stantial margin. House Bills 70 and 71, which authorized $25 million in bonding for water projects throughout the state. "Similar legislation is expected to pass the Senate early this week," according to S. Garth Jones, representative. "The legislation subscribes to the philosophy that we must get involved in the smaller water problems that are being faced by the counties and cities throughout the state." Included in the bill was the Kolob water project as being planned by Cedar City Coporation for fuutre water needs, Rep. Jones indicated. "Also passed by the House was a bill changing the reporting systems in child abuse cases. Rep. Jones indicated in-dicated he voted against the bill Stating "I oppose changing the existing laws and feel that the new legislation gives too much authority to the state to concern itself, in many cases, with the concerns that are primarily that of the family." Rep. Jones indicated he expected most of the budgeting items to come to the floor near the end of the session after thorough investigation in committees. "We must, by law, close the session Saturday night," he pointed out. As a leader of the Republican Party in the House Rep. Jones is involved this week in a variety of Appropriation Ap-propriation Committee meetings at which subcommitee recommendations recom-mendations will be taken under advisement ad-visement and recommendations made before introduction onto the floor of the House.
