Show ICPA meet with Pa rowan City Council PAROWAN - Earl Bunn, chairman of the Parowan CLy Power Board, and Oecrge Ward, representing Intermountain Consumer Power Association, were in attendance at Parowan City Council Meeting to present information regarding Parowan City's participation par-ticipation in future ICPA power development projects. Charts and graphs show estimated needs of ICPA members were shown and an additional meeting was scheduled to review the contracts with ICPA in greater detail. In other major business, Mayor Robinson reported on a recent visit with officials of the Department of Community Com-munity Affairs and filed an application for a planning grant in the amount of $3,000 to $6,000. One third of the amount would have to come from the city, if the grant were approved. Councilwoman Bentley reported that the Planning and Zoning Committee had met with Burt Nichols and Dick Churchill concerning their proposed residential complex near the municipal airport. She Indicated that the development would hinge on the Council's decision concerning water availability. Councilman Benson reviewed the sewer line extension project by Gordon Ada ms-Dua ne La n lOieaux and Carlyle Johnson. Ik' stated that Allen Reese had requested to be connected to the line but a solution had not been resolved as to a connection charge to those people outside the subdivisions. sub-divisions. The Council authorized Councilman Benson to negotiate with the parties involved to arrive at a decision. Councilman Adams announced an-nounced that the Swimming Pool was open and introduced in-troduced the manager of the pool, Lynn Hobison, to the Council. Mr. Robison presented information regarding the pool operation. Other Council matters included : -Annual care fee for gravesites at the Parowan Cemetery was increased to $25 per year (for those without perpetual care). -John Lovric requested permission to place a sign on city property at the mouth of the canyon on U-143. City Attorney Isom will check on the legalities and report at the next meeting. -Council reviewed proposal to install a bulletin board near the Post Office. Total cost would be approximately ap-proximately $400. The Council agreed to pay half of the cost if the Chamber of Commerce would pay the other half. -Councilwoman Bentley reported that five citizens of the community had accepted assignments to serve as chairmen of community progress committees. Mayor Robinson indicated that Verl Taylor, Bruce Matheson, Jackie Robinson, Chuck Harris and Randy Lamoreaux will be advised of their responsibilities. -The Council reviewed the budget for the coming fiscal year and agreed to meet on Friday, June 1C, to work on it in greater detail. |
