Show . , , - 7 i , t LITTLE LEAGUE ACTION.This action was taken in the Carter Bros. vs. Kiwanis game action Monday evening. Kiwanis won contest but not without a struggle. Games are played in both the American and National Little Leagues Monday through Thursday evenings. Rotary leads American LL Rotary picked up wins over its two closest contenders con-tenders to take the lead in the American Little League action last week. Homeruns literally saved the game both against Carter Brothers, June 6 and against Kiwanis June 8. The score of Rotary 8, Carter Brothers 6 was a result of homeruns by Larry Palmer and Robert Pear son; while Alan Pearson's homerun got the Rotary team back in the ball game against Kiwanis for a final score of 9-5. Chuck Walker also hit a homerun for Kiwanis. Mid-season standings were: Rotary 6 0 Kiwanis 5 1 Carter Bros 4 2 Spilsbury Graff 3 3 Milne 3 3 KenBettridge 2 4 Seven Up 1 5 Coleman 0 6 On June 5 Mike LaVasseur pitched a shut out for Milne when they beat 7-Up 38-0, and Spilsbury Graff squeaked by Ken Bettridge 5- 4 with winning pitcher Roger Hulet making a homerun. Darrell Little was the losing pitcher. Kiwanis defeated Coleman 14-4 with homeruns by Jeff Heap and Jeff Archibald. Chuck Walker went the distance on the mound. Ken Bettridge got a win when they scored 9 to 7-Up's 6; and Spilsbury and Graff took Milne 12-7. Winning pitchers were Petty and Miller for KB and Cardon for Spilsbury and Graff. Homeruns continued to be the order of the day with the week's play ending with Carter Bros, taking Coleman 6- 4. Brett Staple's homerun helped decide Coleman's fate. Jeff Whetman and Robert Dean were the winning pitchers. |
