J- rv.; 'VV4 Young Men make Adventure Trip PAROWAN - The young men of ages 14-18 of the 1st Ward have been making preparation for the past 12 months to earn money to go on a high-adventure trip. They wanted to go to Southern California and arrangements were made through Bishop Ronald Smith to stay at the Naval Training Center in San Diego. Barracks were provided with privileges at the galley for meals. Trip started May 29 through June 3. Their trip included a tour of the Universal Studios followed by a ball game in the Dodgers Stadium between bet-ween the LA Dodgers and the San Diego Padreas. Of course, Disneyland was on the schedule also. Invasion of the beaches took place two times. Sea World was enjoyed by all. The highlight of the trip took us over the US border to Mexico and Tijuana. All involved had a great time seeing the sights and negotiating for different articles with the local merchants. All in all, over 1700 miles were covered during the trip. Those participating included: Theron Roberts, David Warren, Cleve Matheson, Chris Evans, Mark LeFevre, Lloyd and Stan Baker, Eric and Scott Adams, Scott Thronton, Mitch Pendleton, Danny Carter, Dan and Mike Robinson, Chris Hanks, and Steve Decker. The Advisors were Bishop Ronald Smith, Russell Shirts, Rodney Adams and Rick Evans. A super time was enjoyed by all and plans to return to the same area are in the mill for next year's activity. |
