Show City gambles , should win It is good to see our city council has a little gambling blood in their veins. Even if it wasn't much of a gamble (who in their right mind would not have declared the Cox building a nuisance, a health hazard and an eyesore?), we are glad the council made the move to remove the building now, rather than waiting out the appeal period. No doubt the co-owner of the building will appeal the overturned decision as rendered this past week in favor of the city (see front page story), but there is little chance he will succeed this time in having the appeal fall his way. But, that chance does exist, and thereby hangs the gamble. It will be interesting to see the progression of that corner lot now. It is a highly visible piece of commercial frontage, on a corner that has a great deal of traffic -such as hospital visitors. We hope the next development will be dedicated to helping the community com-munity and will help the town beautify itself. |
