Show Elks battle to Top of National LL Aw.ir hnH three runs in the Arctic had three runs in the third including a double by Black. Town and Country was on the winning side of a 11-5 game against Tink's Auto S. Anderson was on the mound and Jensen and Bonzo shared duties for Tink's. T & C scored in every inning to keep the pressure on. They got two doubles from Petty and doubles from S. Anderson, An-derson, M. Smith and Briggs. Bonzo doubled for Tinks. In the other game of the week it was Ron's 6-2 over Tink's Auto. Lundberg and Esplin shared the victory while Collins and Pickett were on the mound for Tink's. Elks continued to lead the Cedar City National Little League but there are some uncertainties as they were involved in their second tie game of the season Monday evening. Earlier the Elks had a tie with Town, and Country. Monday it was Lions and Elks had to come from behind with three big runs in the fifth inning after two were out to garner the tie. Both games will be played off when Elks meet the two teams later on in the season. On the mound for was Ilinton, who collected 10 strikeouts, and Starr was on the mound for Elks. Lions had a big third inning Elks took a commanding 9-1 lead over Garden Park by the expansion team barely missed an upset scoring eight runs on just three hits in the fifth frame. The effort fell just one run short. Starr and Leigh were on the mound for Elks. Jeppson and Stout shared pitching duties for Garden Park. Lions came on strong picking up their first two wins of the season as well as tieing the league leaders. In the week Lions downed Arctic Circle by a score of 9-5 9-5 behind the pitching of Hinton, then came on to down Garden Park 20-3. Against Arctic the two teams were deadlocked at 4- all after two but Lions scored three runs in the third and held on for the victory. Stapel and Mathews were on the mound for Arctic. Against Garden Park Olds went the distance for the Lions win. Garden Park sent Jeppson, Ashdown, Gale and Black to the mound. Doubles were hit by Bragger and Olds of Lions. Garden Park, however, did get on the winning side of the ledger with a 7-4 victory over Arctic Circle. Ashdown and Jeppson were on the mound for Garden Park and Bonn and Stapel for Arctic. Garden Park took an early lead with six runs in the first inning. They got a pair of doubles out of Matheson. pushing in all four runs on four hits in the frame. The score was right but the winner was Garden Park, their first as an expansion ex-pansion team. The adjustment ad-justment has been make in the standings. Jaycees, however, make the biggest move in the standings during the week picking up two big victories. They scored a 20-6 win over Ron's and in their biggest win of the season handed Town and Country their first loos of the year with a score of 12-3. Marchant and Perkins were on the mound for Jaycees in the win over Ron's. Jaycees had b big first inning pushing in 8 runs on six hits and were never in trouble. Goulding hit a pair of doubles in the contest and Perkins had one. Esplin had two doubles in a losing cause for Rons. It was Edwards on the mound for the win over T & C and again Jaycees pushed in 4 runs in the first inning and added six runs in the fifth to get their scoring in bunches. Mitchell and M. Smith were on the mound for T & C. Another double winner of the week was Elks, despite the tie with Lions. They scored a 15-7 victory over Arctic Circle and a 10-9 squeeker over Garden Parek. Widick and Starr shared mound duties in the win over Arctic and Widick belted out two home runs in the contest. con-test.
