Show SUSC Orchestra Acappella Choirto perform The Southern Utah State College Orchestra and A Cappella Choir will present Mozart's "Coronation" Mass on May 24. The performance will begin at 8 p.m. in the SUSC Music Recital Hall. Mozart wrote the Mass when he was 17 years of age. It is one of the few 18th Century masterpieces that still survive according to Blaine H. Johnson, chairman chair-man of the SUSC Music Department. "This concert is one of several scholarship fund raising projects. It is hoped that enough funds can be raised annually by the Music Department's own efforts to provide at least four awards for returning students. This goal is in sight and it can be reached with donations made at the Tuesday evening Mass," Dr. Johnson said. Soloists will include Melody Mendenhall, Bruce Johnson, Rich Daddatz, Rich Dalton, Kim Derbridge, Diane Urie, LeeAnn McQuivey, Rachelle Thorely, Audrey Mortensen, Karen Moore, Louise Dalby, Garry Sedgwick, Robin Hamblin, and Deb Thompson. Thomp-son. Dr. Johnson will conduct the A Cappella Choir. David Nyman, assistant professor of music, will conduct the Symphony Orchestra. Students Lynne Magleby and Marilyn Marshall will serve as pianists. |
