Show Commission renegotiates IHC contract, clarifies Aging it i j r Clarification of the commission's new relationship with the Council on Aging and a revised contract with Intermountain Health Care were the high points of an otherwise general meeting. The commissioners said they would definitely retain all budget and board appointment authority but would transfer the fiscal authority to the Iron County School Board. The school board will not be responsible for any funding. The council can use the school board to apply for federal state funding of programs, the commission said. The commissioners also noted the lease agreement between IHC and the county was reduced to a $60,000 yearly sum, down from $75,000. The reduction was accomplished ac-complished by a land exchange with property adjacent to the hospital. The first payment to IHC was also adjusted ad-justed so tne county could provide capital improvement in leiu of payment. The commissioners said it was "a better contract than a month ago." They also discussed, but made no action, on proposed ways to provide the yearly payments through the county budget. The commissioners also discussed the proposed Comprehensive Mental Health Care Program, which would operate separate from Five County Association of Government offerings. An in-patient facility -it Valley View Medical Center, if it were selected as the site, would provide $58,000 to the facility for operation of the program, me commissioners learnea irom WMC adminstrator Reginal Hughes. No formal action was taken on the matter. The commissioners also authorized County Sheriff Ira Schoppmann to take down a stop sign which had been illegally erected in southeast Cedar City at the intersection of a private road and a county service road. The commissioners advised the sheriff to take legal action if the incident is repeated. In other action, the commission tabled a decision concerning a county wide emergency number, approved water line repairs at Woods Ranch and referred to the State Tax Commission a request from the American Legion to waive proper': tax assessments. |
