Show Bryce Canyon Travel up 60 Bryce Canyon National Park recorded 26,172 visitors during the month of April. This was an increase of 60.83 percent over April 1976 travel. Total Bryce Canyon travel for the year through April was 136,010, an increase in-crease of 37.92 percent over the same period in 1976. In April 2,807 campsites were occupied, representing an increase of 493 percent over April 1976. North Campground has been open for camper use and Sunset Campground will open when the demand has increased to a point that North Campground Cam-pground no longer can handle the number of campers. The temeratures for the month of April ranged from a high of 69 degrees F (20 deg. C) to a low of 8 deg. F (-13 (-13 deg. C). The amount of precipitation received during the month consisted of mostly rain and snow for .14 inches. The Bryce Lodge will open, and other services will be offered after May 9, 1977. The Horse Ride concession is open for rides down into Bryce Canyon daily at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Special projects for the month of April 1977 varied from preparing next year's budget, bringing horses from winter pasture to newly prepared barn and corrals for summer use, repairing water pipes and valves that had been damaged during the winter, to continue remodeling of seasonal quarters and preparing the park for summer use. The Bryce Lodge Cabins have been painted and a new roof will be put on the Lodge during the month of May. |
