Gale Stolk was present to request information regarding the delay at the Little League and High School baseball fields and also the Swimming Pool project. Mayor Robinson indicated that plans were to begin use of the baseball facility next year with grass to be planted this fall. The Council also agreed that unless plans by the proiwd contractoi on the Swimming Pool facility are not here soon that a change will 1 made in this regard. The Parowan City Council emphasized city residents will not have to pay a fee to haul extra garbage to the city dumpsite in their meeting Wednesday, and also pondered changing the city animal control ordinance. or-dinance. The Council reviewed a request from the Humane Society to revise the city's animal control ordinance. Police Officer Joe Mickelson said he would be in conference con-ference with the Director of the Society, Bryce Nelson, in the near future to discuss their concerns regarding the present ordinance. Deputy Mickelson suggested the police car which was intended to be sold, be used as an animal control vehicle. The Public Safety Committee will meet and make a recommendation recom-mendation to the Council. Councilman Howard Joseph voiced concern as to J&D Sanitation Company charging residents an additional ad-ditional fee for hauling extra garbage or trash to the dump. It was pointed out that all residents of Parowan and businesses paying the monthly fee will not be charged additionally according ac-cording to the agreement drafted. Mayor Robinson recommended that the Solid Waste Committee meet to review problems and report back to the Council. The Council reviewed the timetable for hiring a new City Recorder. Mayor Robinson recommended that application for the position be submitted on or before August 2, with a decision to be rendered on August 16, 1978. The Council approved the recommendation. ' Jan Booth was present to request the City to narrow the street at his residence on 6th West and deed this property to him. He indicated in-dicated that he would like to fence the area in question. A recommendation was presented by Mayor Robinson to delay any action until the proposed updating of the master plan is complete. com-plete. Councilman Gayle Wood presented J & D Sanitation's proposal to purchase city owned garbage equipment in the amount of $8,500. The Council will have the equipment appraised before any action is taken. Mayor Robinson also indicated that officials of the State Health Board would be in Parowan to inspect the dump site next week. The Council reviewed a possible water utility con- |
