Show Elk Restricted Permit Seasons Application for restricted elk permits is confined to resedent holders of open bull permits. Eligible applicants may apply in person or by mail at any Division of Wildlife Resources office prior to 5:00 p.m., August 25, 1978. A public drawing to select successful applicants will be held September 1, 1978. A $10.00 fee, in addition to the regular open bull permit fee of $15.00, will be required of successful ap-$10.00 ap-$10.00 fee should not accompany ac-company the application. Hunters are asked to check the hunting proclamation for season dates in various areas. Antelope The season will be September Sep-tember 2-10. Application for an antelope permit may be made in person or by mail at any DWR office before 5:00 p.m. July 28, 1978. A public drawing to select successful applicants will be held August 4, 1978. Cost of permits in $10.00 for residents and $100.00 for nonresidents. This fee should not accompany the application. It will be unlawful for a person who obtained an antelope permit in 1976 or 1977 to apply for a permit in 1978. Moose, Buffalo and Desert Bighorn Application for moose, buffalo or bighorn permits may be made in person or by I mail at any DWR office I before 5:00 p.m., July 28, 1978. This fee, in the form of a money order or cashier's check, must ac- company the application. j Personal checks will not be i accepted. J Buffalo, November 4-19. j Bighorn Sheep, September i 16 - October 15. from October 4-17, has been set for open bull season. All persons desiring to hunt elk must first acquire an open bull permit. Elk Archery The season will be August 19-September 4. Permits may be applied for in person or by mailed application July 25-August4 at any DWR office. The cost of permits is $15.00 and must accompany the application. On August 9, one hundred open bull archery applicatns will be selected by a random drawing procedure, and successful applicants will be issued an archery elk permit validated as "Hunter's Choice." This will authorize the permit holder to harvest an elk of his choice on any open bull area during the archery elk season. The Utah Board of Big Game Control has set dates and regulations for Utah's 1978 big game seasons. Deer The general deer season, for bucks only, will be from October 21-31. There will be a trophy buck hunt, on the same dates, in the South Book Cliffs (unit 28B), the Henry Mountains (unit 52) and part of the Wellsville area (unit 4). Deer Control Seasons Control permits will authorize the permittee to take one deer in addition to the buck deer taken on the regular license or on a primitive weapons permit. All deer taken on control permits must be properly tagged with the control permit tag and must be accompanied at all times by the permit card. It will be unlawful for a person to take more than two deer in Utah during the 1978 season. Cost of permits is $5.00 for residents and $7.00 for nonresidents. This fee will not be accepted at the time application is made. Applications Ap-plications will be accepted at the Salt Lake Office of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources by mail or in person until 5:00 p.m., September 15, 1978, for all control permits except 5-day notice. If needed, a public drawing to select successful applicants will be held September 22, 1978. Application Ap-plication deadlines for 5-day notice hunts will be announced an-nounced at the time these hunts are called. Several areas will be open for the taking of one an-tlerless an-tlerless deer on a control permit during the season, October 21-31. There will be a hunter's choice control permit season from November 4-12 in the LaSal-Dolores area (herd unit 30B). In addition, a number of permits for an-tlerless an-tlerless deer will be issued on a 5-day notice control basis after the general season. Permits will be issued in the Crawford Mountains (herd unit 5), Lucerne Valley (unit 25) and Diamond Mountain (unit 26). Deer Archery The entire state is open to archery permittees for the taking with archery equipment of one buck deer during the season of August 19-September 3, 1978. An archery permittee who does not harvest a deer during the archery season may hunt during the regular season. Permits may be purchased pur-chased by mailed or personal per-sonal application at any DWR office, or from authorized license agents upon personal application only. Sale of permits will begin July 31 and contunue through the archery season. Cost of archery permits is $5.00 for both residents and nonresidnets. Deer Muzzleloader The entire state is also open to muzzleloader permittees per-mittees for the taking with a muzzeloader of one buck deer during the season of November 4-8, 1978. Permits may be purchased pur-chased by mailed or personal per-sonal application at DWR office. Sale of permits will begin September 25, 1978, and continue through 5:00 p.m., October 20, 1978. Cost of muzzleloader permits is $5.00 for residents and $7.00 for nonresidents. A season of fourteen days. |
