Show Dairy violating contract, neighbor claims "It is going to have to come to a head. Somethings going to have to give," Lawrence Misel, 46 North 390 West, declared to the Cedar City Council Thursday in his arguments against Western General Dairies. The dairy production distribution center is right next door to Misel's home. Misel said the city should force Western General to comply with city ordinance and their contract with the city or they should be forced out of business. "It is a rotten mess that should be cleared out," Misel stated. "I will invite you over anytime to sit in my front room and smell what I have to put up with. All the noise and stench is terrible." Misel suggested a meeting with the company and city officials and then a meeting of local neighborhood residents. The city council indicated they would research the agreement with the operation and report at the next meeting. City manager Mike Embley noted the "distributor "enjoys an exempt status in a residential zone" as agreed to by the Board of Adjustments. It was also pointed out the agreement allows the operation to run their trucks until 9:00 p.m. Misel said the operation has the capabilities of running their coolers electrically inside the plant, with no need to run "the noisy smelly trucks." "It is the trucks we have to put up with," Misel explained. "We get no cooperation whatsoever." Mayor Sawyers also suggested that if Mr. Misel wished to pursue his argument, he could sign a legal complaint and have it served on the company. |
