Show i Clarence Benson, 84, Pa rowan Native dies; honored at Services Mine", Richard M. Benson dedicated the grave followed by Military Graveside Services by the American Legion. Interment was in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of the Spilsbury & Graff Mortuary, Clarnece Benson, 84, died July 5, 1978 at the Valley View Medical Center of causes incident to age. Born Dec. 9, 1893 in Parowan to Thomas and Laura Marsden Benson. Married Esther Mae Lee July 4, 1921 in Parowan. She died Dec. 22, 1972. Benson was a member of the LDS Church, he served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was active in the American Legion and worked as a rancher and logger and retired from Utah International. He is survived by sons and daghters; Lewis L. of St. George; Clarence Jr. of Parowan, Kent Lee of Clinton; Mrs. June (Virginia) Hunter and Mrs. David L. (Kathleen) Wilkerson, both of Cedar City; Mrs. Ileeta Knecht of Bountiful; Mrs. Farrel ijennave) Gray of Murray; Mrs. Willis R. (Lora May) Cannon of Woods Cross and Mrs. Lester C. (Maurine) Williamson of Paragonah; and a stepson Chant D. Lee of Durango, Colorado. Also surviving are 38 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a brother Richard M. Benson of Parowan. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 8, 1978 at 1 p.m. in the Parowan Third LDS Ward Chapel with Ronald Johnson conducting. The family prayer was offered of-fered by Steve Knecht with Burnus Reber giving the invocation and Farrell Grey giving the benediction. The ' speaker was Dee Robinson with a tribute by Zona Topham, a poem was given by David Lee with remarks by Ronald Johnson. Brenda Adams sang "These Hands" and "Somewhere My Love" and Dewey Topham sang "That Silver Haried Daddy of |
