Show Senior honor students named at CHS PAFOWAN - Parowan High School honor students for the 1978-79 school year have been announced with the following four seniors selected. Richard Burton, son of Edward and Marlene Burton; Tammy Robinson, daughter of Boyd and Hazel Jean Robinson; Lynna Rowley, daughter of Robert and Cleone Rowley and Blair Bentley, son of Rodney and Hettie Ann Bentley. L, A 1 received an excellent rating in region drama as a junior. As a senior he had a lead in "Blythe Spirit" and "Guys and Dolls". He was listed in Who's Who in Music. He is a member of the Madrigal Singers. He participates in wrestling, basketball, cross country running and track, lie was named as outstanding out-standing cross country runner as a sophomore, junior and senior. He served as Captain of the track team as a junior and senior and was outstanding out-standing track student as a junior. He placed 2nd in the region wrestling tournament this year and first in the mile run at region track. He also placed third in the state finals in the mile. These four students will be the featured speakers in Parowan High School Graduation ceremonies. our congratulations to them. workshop. She was chosen as outstanding out-standing music student of 1977-78 year. She has been a member of the stage band for 3 years, playing the tenor saxaphone and a member of the Madrigal Singers for three years. She received a No. I Rating last year in the Region Solo Ensemble Festival for a piano duet she played with her sister Beverly, qualifying them to participate in the State Meet. She also teaches piano to young students. She is a Marching Rammette and has done some of the choreography for the marchers. An active Drama student, she has participated in many productions and had leading roles in "Guys and Dolls" and "West Side Story." An active church member, she teaches a primary class and is Laurel president. Lynna Rowley has maintained a high grade point average and has also been active in all areas of student activities in PHS. track. This year she won a medal for second place in the discus and shot put events at the region meet, and a fourth place medal in the state meet for the discus throw. She also placed in the javelin throw in her junior year in region and state. She was named the most valuable player in Tennis her sophomore and junior years and most valuable volleyball player this year. Lynna has received a full tuition scholarship for the coming year at USU for her leadership and a $125.00 scholarship for marching band there. Blair has been an out-stand out-stand i n g achiever throughout his high school career, participating in all facets of student life. He is an Eagle Scout and has been an honor student every year. He was class secretary in his sophomore year and was named as outstanding art . student in pencil department. depart-ment. He was president of his class as a junior and was listed in Who's Who in American High School students. He was a candidate can-didate for student body BLAIR BENTLEY president and named as outstanding History student and Art student. He attended at-tended Senate Youth and Freedom Academy. As a senior he again attended Senate Youth and the Washington Seminar. He is very active in drama and musicals, played the lead in "Midsummers Nights Dream", had a lead in "Westside Story" and "Meet Me In St. Louis". He r v. RICHARD BURTON Richard has been active in all facets of school academics and in activities. He is an Eagle Scout, and participated in Bantam Basketball and Little League Baseball. He has excelled in track events, and in football winning the most valuable player trophy for his senior year in football. He has also been an outstanding out-standing basketball player for PHS and was one of the leading scorers this past season for the team. He has been active in music and drama, is a member of the Madrigal Singers. Had a supporting lead role in the musical play "Guys and Dolls." He paticipated in the region and state drama meets receiving an excellent rating at region and superior rating at the state in the "Scenes from Plays" competition. An outstanding scholar he was a runner-up math scholar in the Sterling Scholar awards and received the award for outstanding math student in his junior year. He is an active member of the LDS church and has held many leadership positions there. He is also a four year seminary graduate. Tammy Robinson is also a very outstanding scholar and has maintained a high grade point average throughout high school. LYNNA ROWLEY I She is now serving as student body vice president and a member of the student council whre she has served for three years. In her sophomore year she was president of her seminary class, and was vice president of the athletics c club in her junior year. She participated in A.P. English and History this year and attended model U.N. her junior and senior years. She was chosen as a representative to attend girls state as a junior and has worked as the sports reporter for the school paper and girls sports reporter for , the Iron County Record. An outstanding music student Lynna has served four years in the concert band and stage band as a drummer. She received a No. I Rating for her drum solo in the Region Solo and Ensemble Meet and was named outstanding out-standing band student in her junior year. She has played drum accompaniments for the Marching Rammettes for four years. She has also accompanied many musical and dramatic productions at the school. She was active in drama as an actress also with roles in "South Pacific" and "Meet me in St. Louis". She received a special commendation com-mendation from drama I coach Reed Turner for her part in "Meet me in St. Louis." She is an excellent athlete participating in four years of competition in basketball, tennis, volleyball and three years of softball and two in TAMMY ROBINSON She has been active in student government serving as student body secretary and was a participant in the recent Washington |
