Show Ram Grapplers look strong in Piute Meet PAROWAN - The Ram wrestlers journied to Piute this last Saturday for the Piute Invitational Wrestling Tournament and came up fifth in the strong field of eight. The final scores, after a long day of wrestling, resulted with Millard 159 points, Wayne 135, Hurricane 95V2, Piute 94, 'Parowan 8IV2, Richfield 79M, Beaver 79 and Panguitch with 14. The Rams, throughout most of the tournament, were either in sixth or seventh place but in the final round, Tim Fox placed third, Tony Moss second with Larry Green and Gordon Gurr recoridng first place wins. "I'm very proud of this team," said coach Doubek, "especially against strong competition like they faced." "There were several 2A schools and a strong Wayne County team as well as several returning state champs." The tournament might prove costly to the Ram team because Bryan Mount, the 98 pounder, might have suffered a broken rib. The Rams will face Gunnison at home this Thursday night with Varsity matches beginning at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to watch and support the team. |
