Show LPpff tfe I s l Herve Villechaize Herve Villechaize, who plays Tattoo in 'Fantasy Island,' got turned on to acting by watching television. He was born in Paris, France, to a French surgeon father and an English mother, and originally sought a career as an artist. After studying for three years at the Beaux-Arts School in Paris, he came to New York to continue his studies at the Art Students League. Unable to speak a word of English, he learned the language by watching television. TV intrigued him so much that he decided to change professions and began studying acting with Julie Bovasso. His first film. 'The Guitar,' was shot in Spain. His other film credits include 'Hollywood Blvd. No. 2,' 'Hot Tomorrow,' 'Man With the Golden Gun,' 'Crazy Joe,' 'The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight,' 'Seizure' and most recently, 'The One and Only' with Henry Winkler. Herve performed on Broadway in 'Elizabeth the First' and 'Gloria Esperenze.' Off-Broadway, he appeared in 'Honest to God Schnozola,' 'The Moon Dreamers' and "Young Master Dante.' He performed mime in the New York City Opera's production of 'Pagliacci' and also appeared in 'Ubu Roi' and 'Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.' One of Herve's pastimes is photography, and some of his photos have appeared in the New York Times, New York Post and Photo Cite Paris. He resides in Los Angeles.
