Show Fire dept. billing aired by City "We need to talk over the whole spectrum of things," said Councilman Gordon Slack in discussing rising conflicts between Cedar City and Iron County concerning costs of shared facilities and services. City Manager John Hendrickson . told the Cedar City Council at their meeting last week that the county had paid only $12,000 of a $17,242 bill sent to them on June 10, 1977. He also said that in May 1978 the county only paid $14,000 on a $22,892 bill. Both bills . were for county costs in running the cooperative Fire Department. Hendrickson siad that County Clerk Clair Hulet said that the bills were not paid in full because the money was not in the county budget. He also said , that Hulet had pointed out that the city has not been paying their jail costs for city prisoners held in the county run jail. Hendrickson protested this position saying that the city and county have a long standing verbal agreement concerning the Fire Department's costs but have not worked out an agreement concerning jail costs. According to Hendrickson, the county is responsible for expenses on all county fire runs and a share of the fire department's overhead expenses. The councilmen and city manager agreed that a meeting with county commissioners needs to be scheduled to work out their differences. |
