Show Walter G. Lunt, active Church and Civic worker dies; services Thursday r.i'. ? If Funeral services for lifelong life-long Cedar City resident, businessman and civic worker, Walter Gibson Lunt, 86, will be held Thursday, October 27 at the Cedar First-Ward Church. Mr. Lunt died Monday, Oct. 24 at the Valley View Medical Center after a long illness. Services will be under the direction of the Boyer Southern Utah Mortuary and are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friends may call at the Boyer Mortuary today one hour before the services. Mr. Lunt was born in Cedar City Jan. 7, 1891 to Randle Wilson Lunt and Catherine Gibson Lunt. He graduated from the Branch Normal School, now Southern Utah State College, in 1914 and attended the University of Utah. He studied music and took part years. Mr. Lunt was active in civic affairs. He was a charter member of the Lions Club, a member of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce and a secretary and treasurer of the Five County Organization. Active in the LDS Church he was a High Priest in the Cedar First Ward. Survivors include his wife, Cedar City; three sisters: Mrs Henry P. (Blanche) Dotson, and Mrs. Mary Anne Montgomery, both of Cedar City and Mrs. Ela L. Urban, Las Vegas, Nev. ; a brother, Randle Wilson Lunt, Los Angeles, Calif. Also surviving are two half sisters: Mrs. Abe (Alberta) Friemuth and Mrs. Marguarita Chidester, Las Vegas, Nev. WALTER G. LUNT Temple June 27, 1929. They owned and operated the Lunt's Hotel and Cafe for 25 in many local operas and plays. He later spent several years in New York City playing in light opera with the San Francisco Opera Co. with leading roles in such productions as "The Mikado," "Blossom Time," and "Student Prince." He married Alene Dalton of Minersville April 17, 1914. She died May 3, 1922. They had two daughters, Viola and Catherine LaRue, who both preceded them in death.
