Show PES students visit Well PAROWAN - Three classes from the Parowan Elementary School had some first-hand experiences in their study of energy, it's production and uses. Mr. Benson's sixth grade, Mrs. Topham's first grade, and Mrs. Jensen's first grade traveled to Milford on Monday October 17. They were met by a representative represen-tative of the Phillips Petroleum Company who showed colored slides and explained the energy research project at the Geo-Thermal Geo-Thermal Wells near Milford. After the slide presentation, presen-tation, the group traveled by bus to the drilling area and were given a guided tour of the wells. The testing at the flow-injection well was most interesting. The children were fascinated by the huge cloud of "steam" that was evident at the test site. They were also very interested in the large pipe line which had a temperature of over 400 degrees. This pipe line carried the water from the well l'2 miles to where the water was pumped back into the ground to a depth of one mile. It was a special day for the children. They came home with a much better understanding un-derstanding of the energy situation and the problems that are involved. |
