Show Wayne Owens in Cedar today on campaign Cong ressional candidate Wayne Owens will be in town tonight and tomorrow, making mak-ing Cedar City a stop on a five-day tour through southern counties. An informal meeting and a tour of the town have been planned for the Democratic Demo-cratic hcpeful who walked 689 miles through the state last spring, stepping in Cedar City March 25 through 29. When Owens was here on his walk, he made the pledge that if elected he would open a Congressional office in Cedar Ce-dar City. . Owens will be in Ncphi and 'Fillmore today (arriving here 'tonight), and goes on t0 visit Beaver, Kane, Piute, and Wayne Counties. On Saturday he will visit the Washington County Fair in St. George. The Democratic Congression. al nominee is now using the "Walk for Congress" idea in Salt Lake County that took him on his eight-week hike in March and April through the southern counties of the state. With the camper which he had on his 689-mile walk s his mobile headquarters, Owens travels to neighborhoods neighbor-hoods In the Salt Lake area and seeks out people in their homes and where they work, 'tf found that this is the best way to meet people," Owens remarked, "to learn what's on their minds and what's important im-portant to them." |
