Zone SCS committee cited for workin conservation Steering Committee of Zone Seven of the Soil Conservation Service was presented an a-wardjn a-wardjn recognition of leadership leader-ship in resource conservation planning at a Zone meeting held in Cedar City, Wednesday, Wednes-day, Feb. 19. The award is donated by the Sears-Roebuck Foundation and the Wildlife Federation of Utah. Members of the steering committee are Ralph Pierson, Minersville; Winifred Spendlove, Spend-love, Hurricane, George Seeg-miller, Seeg-miller, St. George and Lorin Jones, Cedar City. Presentation was made by Frank W. Bohman, state president pres-ident of the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Utah. . Zone meeting, which represents repre-sents the five county area of southern Utah including Soil Conservation district at Kan- ab, St. George, Milford, Boa-I Boa-I ver, Panguitch, Parowan -Cedar City and Enterprise, was one of five being held throughout the state under the direction of Bohman. j j Conducting the meeting t were the co-zone chairmen, j Elmer Gurr of Parowan and j Morgan Griffith. Participating in the meeting meet-ing were Al R. Swanson, state conservationist and James Harvey, executive secretary of the State Department of Agri-' culture. Harvey presented a report on the State Commission Commis-sion Business and Technical Assistance Program and Swanson's report was entitled "Progress of the Soil Conner- vation Service as it Relates to I Resource Conservation Plan-I Plan-I ning." Zone and district reports were also heard and each of i the Soil Conservation districts I in the zone were presented at the annual meeting. Other reports on state, zone j and district activities were reported and discussed by those in attendance. Meetings were held in the Cedar City Public Library and a luncheon was served delegates dele-gates to the conference at the studnt center on the Southern Utah Sate College campus. |
