Claudia Palmer assigned as an aid at Junior High for 1970-71 school year to replace Lorraine Bonzo and LaVoy Staricy, Cedar Jr. High to replace Lorell Stevenson who has been granted a leave I of absence. The Board met with a del- : pgation from the Escalante Valley in regard to a request to have students transported to Enterprise Elementary rather than to the Escalante Valley School. After consideration, consider-ation, the Board indicated that they would not change their policy in transporting this year but would consider the request possible at a later ' date. Currently the policy of the district does not permit transportation of students to schools outside the county school system. j The board authorized the j purchase of insert panels for display purposes in connection connec-tion with the annual Amateur Art Show staged each year. Request was made by Glen Anderson. Members of the board this month attended a workshop of negotiations held in Salt Lake City February 23 and 24. Several travel authorizations authoriza-tions were also granted by the board of education as follows: fol-lows: Blanche LeBaroh was granted grant-ed permission- to attend a workshop to be held at the University of California at Berkley March 16-20. Harold Shirley of Cedar ligh School and Herman louston of the Southwest Ed-ication Ed-ication Development Center ,vere granted permission to attend the Western States Jongress for Teachers of English En-glish to be held at Las Vegas, Ncv. March 6-8. Permission was granted for two teachers in the system to attend the Department of Classroom Teachers Convention Conven-tion at Sparks, Nev. March 11-14. Request was submitted by the Iron County Education Association and expenses will be met by that organization. A representative will also attend a conference for curriculum cur-riculum directors sponsored by the American Society of Curriculum Directors to be held at San Francisco, Calif March 15-19. A tentative calendar for the 1970-71 school year was approved ap-proved by the board subject to negotiation by the teachers association. Superintendent Clair Morris also presented p mister plan or vocational complex in the basement of Cedar High School. The plan was approved ap-proved by the board and will be implemented as funds become be-come available it was indicated. indi-cated. Board also authorized the calling for bids for a 72 passenger pas-senger school bus. Specifications Specifica-tions on the bids are available avail-able at the school board offices of-fices in Cedar City. Permission was given to Superintendent Morris to conduct a study on the feasibility feasi-bility of a single electrical metering system for the various var-ious schools in Cedar City. Morris will report on the study at a later date. |
