Show iParowan basketball team downs Milford, Beaver takes Kanab in last Fridays games LAST WEEK Parowan 60, Milford 49 Beaver 65, Kanab 55 The Parcwan High Ram basketball bas-ketball team put together another an-other very good game on Friday Fri-day night at Millord to down the Tigers by a 60 to 49 score. This was the Rams second league win and both came at the expense of the Milford team, and as a resul t the Rams of Coach Bill Farr climbed climb-ed up a notch in team standings stand-ings and left the Tigers in the cellar. With three of the six men on the Parowan squad who got into the scoring, hitting in the double figures they took an early lead and held it all the way, with the 11-point first quarter lead holding out to the end. Rex Burton, dimmunitive Ram hot shot, came up with 19 points to lead all scorers and was followed closely by Adams with 15 and Pendleton with 10. Ram players hit 42 of their shots from the field probably the best one so far, and had 14 for 24 from the foul line, another fine night for them. Milford had three men in double figures, Benjah with 14, Smith with 11 and Barnes with 10. The Parowan Junior Varsity took one of its very few defeats de-feats of the year when the Milford JV's took a 43 to 42 win, coming from behind in the final minutes of the game to record the victory. Parowan 49 Valley 47 Parowan Rams entertained the Valley High Buffalos in a practice game Saturday night and in a close contest finally won a two point victory, 49 to 47. The Buffalos are leading their league at the present time with four wins and no losses and is one of the best teams on the other side of the mountain. Parowan again came up with four men in double figures fig-ures and all turned in a very good performance until the final fi-nal minute when they again undertook a job of throwing the ball away and with it almost al-most went the game. The Rams held a 12 to 10 lead at the end of the first period; everything was tied up at 21-all at haKtime. They were back on lead 35 to 33 at the third period rest, and then made the lead hold up the rest of the way. The Parowan Junior Varsity also came up with an easy win over the Valley JVs 39-31 with Coach Farr being able to give his ninth graders almost a quarter of playing time. |
