Show Parowan entries win honors in Roundup parade A uumber of interesting items have been called to our attention this week by Amasa Stones, Iron County Fair chairman, concerning the Parowan Par-owan tloats which rather dominated dom-inated the annual parade on Labor Day of the Fair. Seven of the outstanding floats in the parade, sponsored sponsor-ed and paid for by local business bus-iness organizations, and built by Vyonne Chamberlain and Evelyn Orton,, dominated the Fair parade, and as the result officers of the St. George Lions Club, sponsors of the annual Dixie Roundup held on Sept. 16, 17, and 18, contacted the local float owners and made a request that these floats by brought to St. George for participation par-ticipation in the General Parade Par-ade in St. George on Sept. 16. After considering how to get the floats that far away from home, the owners finally employed em-ployed the Evans cattle trucks and other large outfits, spent a day and half the night loading load-ing them, and had them in St. George for the first day parade. par-ade. And wo understand that they added very much to the event, after the long haul, and at quite a lot of expense to their owners. And after the loading, long ride and unloading, two of the Parowan floats were rated 4th and 5th place spots in the winners circle. The Parowan City entry placed 4th and the entry of Miriam's Style Shop gained fifth spot. Mr. Stones expresses the thought that the Parowan entries en-tries should be awarded a trophy tro-phy for their help in making the parade a success, and extends ex-tends his thanks and congratulations congrat-ulations to the local businesses business-es for their efforts. |
