A special meeting of the the Parowan City Council was held oa Monday night lor the purpose of adopting a budget of expenditures for the 1970-71 fiscal year. The meeting convened at 7 )). m. in the form of a hearing hear-ing on the budget, but no one appeared to look the instrument in-strument over so during the regular meeting, beginning at 8 p. m. it was formally passed by the council. The oudget calls for the spending of j;ti5,(il0 during the fiscal year which begins on July 1. according to Dennis Lowder, city recorder. In other matters of business taken up during the evening, the council decided to spray the sewer lagoons, to eradicate eradi-cate the weeds and other growth in them and then to reseed them to grass this fall, A few additional problems in connection with the city sewer system came to the attention at-tention of the council for consideration. con-sideration. One of these pertained per-tained to lots within the city which did not have the sewer lines run from the sewer main to their property line and the council ruled that from now on citizens wishing to have lines run i'rom their property to the main lines will have to have this done at their own expense. Recorder Lowder reports that the city now has five applications for the position of city electrician, which will be vacant upon the retirement of Ross Guymon in the near future. These applicants will be interviewed by the council :as soon as possible in order to name a man to that position. posi-tion.
