Show Rex N. Osborne appointed to West Point Following his four years of academic training he will receive re-ceive a commission in the U. S. Army and fulfill a military obligation committeed on his entry into the military academy. aca-demy. ; Rep. Lloyd indicated that John Patrick Gilmore of Salt Lake City, had been appointed appoint-ed to the Air Force Academy. Gilmore is a graduate of Skyline Sky-line High School. Plans call for Osborne to leave Cedar City on Tuesday, June 30. Rex N. Osborne of Cedar City is one of two students in Utah appointed to military schools by Utah Representative Representa-tive Sherman P. Lloyd. Osborne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce H. Osborne, is a 1970 graduate of Cedar High School. He has received an appointment ap-pointment to West Point. Academically Osborne completed com-pleted his high school credits with a 4.0 grade point average, aver-age, which is equivalent to a straight A record. He has been active in drama and was a member of the school orchestra orches-tra and a cappella choir. Active in athletics he participated par-ticipated in football, basketball basket-ball and track. He was a dele, gate to Utah Boys' State when a junior and was a broadcast reporter for Cedar City High School. Rex also served as president presi-dent of the LDS Seminary, was president of the Thespian Club his junior year, and was a member of the Key Club. Sunday he was ordained an Elder in the LDS Church. The Cedar City youth will report at West Point on July 1 for basic army training which will be conducted during dur-ing the summer months.
