Show Committee announces schedule for Indenendenc Day observance be held at the race track and To conclude the day's ac-tivilies ac-tivilies the P H S Rammctte Club will sponsor a dance, beginning at 9 p. m. in the high school gym with music to be furnisher by The Clique combo. 'I ''-'I :.''il.,ii,.!iiili,.,,;ili KEVIN ROBINSON "Uncle Sam" Plans are now nearing completion com-pletion for a full day's schedule sched-ule of activities for the July 4 celebration in Parowan. The various events, with those in charge of them, will be as follows: Bill Rollins has charge of the traditional daybreak sa-lue. sa-lue. The parade is under the direction di-rection of Beverly Taylor and will begin at 9:30 a. m. with a junior and senior division, and prizes to be awarded to winners in each. Everyone under un-der ' 12 is urged to enter the junior division and should be in line on 100 South between Main and 100 East Streets by 9 a. m. so that the judging can be done prior to the parade. par-ade. Ail others in the community are urged to enter floats in thesenior division which will line up on 100 South between Main and 100 West St. Everyone; Every-one; is asked to be in line by 9 so tho parade can start at 9:3fy, Following the parade concessions con-cessions and sports will be held on the city park lawn. Gary Miller is in charge of these, and is planning for activities ac-tivities and games to interest all age groups.. A public meeting with a patriotic pa-triotic theme, will be held in the Third Ward chapel at 11:30. Herman Adams, commander com-mander of Parowan Post 20 of the American Legion, and Mrs. Marie Orton, president of the Legion Auxiliary, are making arrangements for an appropriate speaker and musical musi-cal numbers for this program. Staying with the old tradition tradi-tion for July 4 observances, they have chosen young people peo-ple to represent "Uncle Sam" and "The Goddess of Liberty" They are Kevin Robinson and Lorraine Rowley to represent these national characters. Kevin Ke-vin graduated from Parowan High School in May after an active student career in athletics, ath-letics, FFA, Model U N, etc. Miss Rowley will be a senior sen-ior at the school this year, and has served as cheerleader, cheerlead-er, attended Girls State and will be studentbody vice president pres-ident this coming year. The Red Hill Wranglers wili take over for the afternoon , , with a program of horse racing rac-ing at the city track.
