Show Federal Funds received by SUSC Southern Utah State College is one of four institutions of higher learning in the state of Utah to participate in programs pro-grams involving expenditure of nearly $126,000 in federal funds under Title I of the Higher Education Act of 1965, approved during the last Utah State Board of Higher Education Educa-tion meeting. These programs, according to Dr. Leon McCarrey, Associate Associ-ate Commissioner, are designed design-ed to provide services to assist as-sist in the relief of urgent so- cial problems in local communities. com-munities. Each institution has a definite de-finite role to play in continuing con-tinuing education activities relating to local communities, Dr. McCarrey said. These relate re-late to the over-all role of the I institution in the state's sys-I sys-I tern of higher education, to ! the area of the state each in-' in-' stitution should serve, and to activities designed to help other agencies explore new functions that could improve community life. The program at SUSC has been designed to assist local and regional governments and other groups to become aware of and better able to resolve their problems and to undertake under-take sound development planning. |
