Show Lions score 10-0 shutout to retain lead TEAM STANDING Lions 2 0 1.000 Jaycees 2 1 ,GG7 Elks 2 1 .GG7 Jones Motor 1 2 .333 Arctic Circle 0 3 .000 Lions Club continues to dominate action in the Cedar National Little League and they proved their point this past week with a 10-0 shutout victory over Arctic Circle. Lions collected 12 hits and pushed over 6 runs in the first inning to take the lead and control the game throughout. Robert Pete hit a home run and Arctic Circle picked up only two hits in the game. Jaycees, after losing their second half opener to Lions, came back this week to smart the Elks 24-4 then took tne measure of Jones Motor 14-1. Against Elks the Jaycees belt- ed out 24 hits including five home runs. Averett hit two and Mike Schaak, Steve Hair and Kary Laird each had one. Laird and Kevin Robinson were on the mound. Clinton Bills was the pitcher for Elks and he also homered. Steve Hair held Jones Motor Mot-or hitless through five innings aud picked up 13 strikeouts in leading his team to the 14-1 victory. Hair and Averett also homered in the game. Elks came back Tuesday evening to defeat Arctic Circle 7-5. Kevin Schoppmann and Kerry Cox were on the mound for the victory and Clinton iBills hit two home runs to aid the cause. Brad Blackner and Kevin Crandall were on the mound for the losers. In the other game of the week Jones Motor outlasted Arctic Circle 12-9. Jones Motor collected seven hits and nine runs in the first inning then held on for the victory. Doug Hall homered for the winners. Hall and Eric Smith were on the mound for the victory. |
