A member of the lodster family, the crayfish feeds on moss and weeds. Crayfish planted in Sand Cove Reservoirs Utah Division of Fish and Game recently stocked about 1,000 crayfish in the Sand Covg reservoir in Washington County. These crayfish were collected from Arizona, and it is hoped that they will help alleviate the moss and weed problem at the reservoirs. They will spread downstream down-stream to the new Gunlock Reservoir and should provide excellent food for the bass that will be stocked there. This species of crayfish (Orconectes causeyi) . is not the burrowing kind and will not cause any damage to banks and dams. Adult male crayfish sometimes reach a length of six inches and are very edible. The crayfish is a class relative rela-tive of the lobster. They eat weeds and anything else they can ;et hold of.' |
