Show Elaine Adams will head Poppy Day drive in Parowan By the issuance of a proclamation proc-lamation by Mayor Kendall 0. Gurr, Saturday, May 15, was set up as Poppy Day, 1971 in Parowan. The proclamation was issed at the request of Mrs. Whitney Orton, president presi-dent of the Parowan Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary. Auxil-iary. Mrs. Elaine S. Adams has been named as Poppy Day chairman for the unit and states that she is organizing a drive to contact all residents of the community in behalf of the sale of the little red flower flow-er on Poppy Day. In his proclamation, Mayor May-or Gurr called upon the people peo-ple of the city to join with him and the Auxiliary unit in buying and wearing the little red poppy or Memorial flower to support the drive for funds and also pay reverence to the men of our country who gave their lives in its defense and to aid those who survived but are in need of aid in living liv-ing following their service to our nation.. The Poppy Day contributions contribut-ions are used solely for the programs of child welfare and rehabilitation of the veterans and their families in our community com-munity and state. |
