Show Beautification committee starts activities "The time Is fust approaching approach-ing for us in Cedar City to again get busy beautifying our town," according to Forrest For-rest Hunter, Beautification Chairman. "We must make Cedar City more clean and beautiful. It is an economic necessity." Last summer several projects pro-jects were completed. Main street was improved and the approaches to town on the State Highway were greatly improved. This was a slow process and much inconvenience inconveni-ence was experienced. Now it is finished and it is a terrific terri-fic improvement. Partly because of this project, pro-ject, we were singled out for some unfavorable publicity in the state papers. This was partly deserved, according to Mr. Hunter. He suggests, "If we don't make Cedar City more clean and attractive, we will lose more conventions . and more business. We cannot afford to take the chance. Mr. Hunter feels that wo cannot improve unless we are able to, recognize ourselves as we really are. For this reason, we should welcome criticism. But we need workers even more than we need critics. Any prson who can contribute time, planning or ideas will be welcomed into the committee. com-mittee. We would like to involve in-volve anyone who would like to help. "We do have to depend on Cedar City citizens to keep their own property clean and beautiful," Mr. Hunter states. "Our entire program rests on the development of personal and individual pride in our own yards. We have to get started immediately and we need the help of every citizen and group in town," he said. |
