Cedar Ce-dar City Music Arts Association will present the Eastman Brass Quintet in concert at the Southern Utah State College auditorium tonight, Feb. 19. Eastman Brass Quintet slated for appearrance in Cedar City tonight was selected to play in the All-Conference Band. After 2' years of study at BYU he was one of three musicians: chosen from the Intermoun- j tain area to play at the Tagle-wood Tagle-wood Festival under the direction di-rection of Leonard Bernstein. After two years in the Army Band in Europe, he remained abroad for another year to study. Returning to BYU, he finished his BS degree and went to Eastman on a scholarship. scholar-ship. He received an appointment appoint-ment to play in the Munich Opera Orchestra, where he played for two years. He then returned to Eastman to work on the Doctor of Musical Arts degree, which he will receive this June. Cherry is a member mem-ber of the Rochester Philharmonic Philhar-monic and has been a member mem-ber of the Quintet for five years. The- Easlman, Brass Quintet will appear in the fourth program pro-gram of the Cedar City Music Arts Series on Thursday, February Fe-bruary 19 at 8:15 p. m. in the Southern Utah State College-luditorium. College-luditorium. The Qutintct, con sisting of faculty members of the Easlman School of Music and members of the Rochestra Philharmonic Orcnestra, features fea-tures Daniel Patrylak and Philip Collins playing trumpet; trum-pet; Vern.e Reynolds, French Horn; Donald Knaub, trombone, trom-bone, and Cherry Beauregard, tuba. The music to lie performed by the Quintet runs the gamut ga-mut from a 15th century "Gloria Deo" to modern works by contemporary composers. Cherry Beauregard, the tuba player in the Eastman Brass Quintet, is a 1951 graduate of Millard High School. While playing in the Millard Band he won many honors as an outstanding out-standing performer. He played in a Brass Sextet that performed per-formed at the Western Division Divi-sion of the Music Educators National Conference and he |
