Show SUSC to stage "Rigoletta" March 10 to 14 "Rigoletto," a world-wide favorite for 100 years will a-gain a-gain be performed on the stage of Southern Utah State College Auditorium March 10 through 14, it was announced by Dr. Blaine Johnson, director direc-tor of choral music at SUSC. The full cast and orchestra are currently in rehearsal. According Ac-cording to Dr. Johnson, some of the finest soloists ever heard in the area will be featured in the production. Most notable of these is Roy L. ,King, tenor, of the University Univer-sity of Indiana Music Department, Depart-ment, who will sing the famous fam-ous part of the Duke. Mr. King performed' the role of Don Jose in the 1966 SUSC production of "Carmen." Me has also starred in major operatic op-eratic roles at Louisville, Ky. and St. Louis, Mo. and is currently cur-rently performing with the U. of Indiana Opera Workshop. A favorite locally, Christine VVinterrose, will sing Gilda. Opposite her will be iGerald. Ine Barton of St. George. Norman Nor-man Lister and Scott Lewis, both from Cedar City, will alternate al-ternate in the title role. Other cast members are: Sue Turner, Delta; Helen Lindsay and Richard Carter, Beaver; Floyd Isom, St. I George; Dee Pace, Spanish Fork; Chris Church and Jay Wilcken, Cedar City. Norman Lister is student director of the production. Stage sots are being designed ' and built by Gary Mclntyre, costuming by Mary Judd, and general production by Fred C. Adams, SUSC drama director. Prof. Roy L. Halversen, chairman of the SUSC Music Department, is training the orchestra. Dr. Johnson will direct the production. |
