Sgt. Whitney was cited for his contribution both as a civilian civ-ilian technician und as a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2d Battalion, Bat-talion, 222d Artillery. Speaker at the awards banquet ban-quet will be Gen. William Westmoreland, U. S. Army chief of staff and former American commander in Vietnam. Viet-nam. Sgt. Whitney is one of .s:v-en .s:v-en from throughout the state selected to receive the Minute man Awards, which are replicas re-plicas of the Minuteman Statue Sta-tue at Concord, Mass. A reception and social hour is scheduled this evening at 7 p.m. at Ft. Douglas Officers' Open Mess. Dinner will be at 8 p.m. Notification of his selection as a recipient of the coveted award was given by Major General Maurice L. Watts, adjutant general for the Utah National Guard. |
