Show Memorial Day Race Meet Program Ready Plans for the annual Memorial Mem-orial Day Race Meet In Paro-wan, Paro-wan, are rapidly nearing completion com-pletion this week states Mrs. Mary Gae Evans who Is publicity pub-licity and advertising chairman chair-man for the event which is sponsored by the Red Hill Wrangler, local rid ng club. Post time for a full afternoon after-noon of racing on Memorial day, Thursday, May 30, is 2 p. m. according to Mrs. Evans, who adds that special event to be held in between races will include calf and steer jackpot roping for riders and jackpot barrel racing events for women. The program will uir in ill t- mc laiirwau viiji race track and rodeo grounds. The racing program is being be-ing arranged by Roger Allen, racing chairman for the club; Paul Fife, club rodeo chairman, chair-man, has charge of the roping rop-ing and barrel raceing events. Riders interested in these events may contact Mr. Fife at the roeo grounds prior to the program. Roy Whitlock is chairman of the concessions for the afternoon. With two race meets already alrea-dy held in this area on the ; past two week ends, Mr. Allen Al-len assures that there will be sufficient horses on hand to make up a full program. The racing card will be drawn up with the horseman and committee com-mittee at the courtroom of the county courthouse on Wednesday Wed-nesday night L,arry luuis, tracK ana grounds chairman, has been working with his committee of club members on some additional ad-ditional improvements at the racing plant. The track is being be-ing worked each day, the grounds and parking lot have been cleaned up. The final stretch of iron pipe railing on the home stretch of the track is now being installed, and it will include a chain j link fence in front of the grandstand to keep children off the area in front of the stand In the two meets already held, Parowan owned horses have won races at each one. Two weeks ago at Escalante, two horses from the stables of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Lyman were winners, Shady Vee and Bunny Gold .-Bar,... who oneed no Introduction to racing" fans of the area and both won. Then last week end at the Kanab Race Meet, both of these horse repeated as winners win-ners in feature races. |
