Show Prominent Family Living Experts Featured at CSU Summer Session - ; .. ...J DR. OSBORNE MRS. OSBC3NE Dp, and Mrs. Ernest G. Osborne are combining their interests and skills to bring to the College of Southern Utah a teamwork i approach to the problems In mar- rlage and family living. As hus- j band and wife they are becom- I ing widely recognized for their cooperative programs in family t life education. Individually, they have achieved positions of great f Influence and importance. Dr. Ernest G. Osborne, profes- f ior of education at Teachers Col- f lege, Columbia University, has long been interested in children and the family. He specializes In education for marriage, fam- ily life, and parent education, and is chief advisor in those areas in the department of Home j and Family Life at Columbia. He has been a recreation club leader lead-er and director, camp counselor j and director. Currently he acts as consultant or committee mem- bcr in a number of national organizations. or-ganizations. I' In 196-47, he and Mrs. Osborne a public health nurse, who now teaches family relationships at Sara Lawrence College, were child welfare consultants in Chicago. Chi-cago. Mr. Ohborne is an advisory editor on "Parents' Magazine" and was the program coordlnat-or coordlnat-or for the National Conference on Family Life held at the White House in May J9-18. He has com- : pleted three terms as president of the National Council on Family Fam-ily Relations, and for several ; years was a field consultant In parent education for the National Nation-al Congress or Parents and Teachers. "Family Scrapbook," a compilation com-pilation of his syndicated column col-umn of the same title, was published pub-lished In 1951 and a new book for adolescents, "How to Under, stand Your Parents" was recently recent-ly published. Dr. Osborne is also the author of three widely used public affairs committee pamph-lets, pamph-lets, "Democracy Begins at Home," "How to Teach Your Child About Work," and "How tJ Select a Camp for Your Child." He Is a frequent contributor to popular magazines and has made numerous radio and television tele-vision appearances. Dr. Osborne, a native of Riverside, Riv-erside, Calif., received his bachelor's bach-elor's degree from Pomona Col-lede, Col-lede, Claremont, Calif., and his Ph. D. from Teachers College. Mrs. Mry Rideout Osborne received re-ceived her B.A. degree at Tamo-na Tamo-na College, Claremont, Calif., her M. A. in the department ci ; home and falmly life at Teachers Teach-ers College, Columbia and her R.N. at St. Luke's Hospital, New York City. While in Cedar City, Dr. and Mrs. Osborne will give two lectures: lec-tures: one Monday morning at 9:30 entitled "Building Better Understanding Between Parents and Children through the Com. munity," and the second Monday evening at 8 entitled "Helping Parents Feel More Comfortable In their Parental Role."
