Show Fair Committee Sets Dates For 1957 Exhibit At the first meeting of the newly appointed Iron County Fair Board for the 1957 event, dates for this year's Iron Coun-fair Coun-fair were set. It Is announced by D. Amasa Stones, chairman of that board. At the meeting held at the county courthouse last Thursday Thurs-day evening, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 and 2, were selected as the dates for this year's event with the program for the three days to be carried out similar to the way It was carried out last year, when the same days were used, states Mr. Stones. All exhibits are to be in and be Judged by noon of the opening open-ing day, with the exhibits to be open around noon of that day. Sunday the exhibits will be open late In the afternoon following church services and then all day Monday, the final day. The 4-H Clubs of the county will play a prominent part In the exhibits and program for the fair. All exhibits in home arts, the farm, garden and orchard in ad. dltion to the 4 H Club division will be on display in the Parowan Paro-wan High School gym, as well as crafts, hobbies and flowers. Livestock exhibits will be shown in connection with the Southern Utah Livestock Show, which will be held In Cedar City the follow. lng week end. Mr. Stones states that the fair board is going to ask the board of Iron County Commissioners to declare an Iron County Homecoming Home-coming for that week end, and it is the intention of the committee com-mittee to stage a pageant, depicting depict-ing the settling of each of the owns of the county, with residents resi-dents of the various towns to play prominent parts In the pageant. pag-eant. The pageant is planned for presentation in the College of Southern Utah auditorium Saturday Satur-day evening, Aug. 31. Other entertainment features planned at this time will be a program of horse racing on one or two days of the fair, which takes in the Labor Day Week end. Monday being labor day, and a legal holiday. Also included includ-ed in plans for Labor Day will be the big parade, similar to the one held last year. Other features fea-tures will be added and an nounced later Stones states.
