Show Agriculture Census Report Shows County Farm Picture ' The 1959 Census of Agriculture, conducted In Iron County last fall, counted 418 farms, according accord-ing to a preliminary report just issued by the Bureau of Census, U. S. Department of Commerce. Total land in farms was 695,860 acres. The average size of farm was 1,664.7 acres. The average value of farms (land and buildings) build-ings) in the county was $48,833. Of the county's farm operators, 235 owned their farms, 164 owned own-ed part of the land' and rented additional acreage, and 13 were tenant farmers. The average age of operators in the county was 51.2 years. There were 68 farm operators 65 or more years of age. Of the 418 farms in the county, coun-ty, 257 were commercial farms.
